19th Century Fashion - A Century of Progress ?
(My interpretations of the era!, plese, don't take it as a scientific project it is mainly based only on my searching and knowledge, you should be a bit "restrainted" about my dating XD))

1870-1885 - comming soon
1850-1865 - comming soon
1840 - This dress belongs to 1835-1850 times. The beggining of the real Victorian era, the dresses are "to the ground long", with no trail (you'll see more of trails in 1850-1560), bonnets have quite different shape (hiding cheeks) than in the decade before, eveing dresses have shoulders visible. Oh, and I think you can see how the skirt changed - it makes the right curves for the wearer (unlike the dresses before) with the tight bodices. Hair is done into bun with curls starting above ears.

1828 - The dress from 1825-1835 period. The waistline is nearly at its "normal" position. This decade is full of huge sleeves, big bonnets and of course I have to mention the changing of the materials - day dress are made of light heavy coloured cotton, with patterns.

1815 - This is the strangest period of Regency I think. The waistline should be lowering, but on some dresses the opposite happens. Fabrics are light and shiny. On the bottom of the dress there are decorations - trimming, ribbons, flowers of fabric and patterns. Feet could be visible, but the bottom line of skirts will be lowering again. Oh, and the sleeves are very poofy in the upper part.

1805 - Waistline is quite high, but it will be lowering again. Feet could be visible. Shawls are still very very popular - the same it is with curly hair, gloves and bonnets. Typical Regency time.

1800 - Around 1800-1805 the waistline should be at the highest. Sheer, white or creme clothing symbolizing purity was the most popular. For a lady of this time "simple white dress" was something, well, universal. Since 1790ties dresses tended to their Greek marvel. Feet could be visible.

1796 - The waistline is a bit higher again, but still ... the trails are long for the present. Mind that skirts still are quite full altough they strat cca 5 cms under breasts. This doll was inspired by a picture of 1796 fashion magazine issue, so you can guess the way of future. Pride&Prejudice is supposed to be set in this time, around 1797, anyway in the movie from 2005 it is very visible.

1790cca
1790'es - The time when Rococo/late Baroque fashion changes into style called Empire/Regency. The waistline is higher, than during the whole 18th cent., even the material of dresses is to change, but the skirt are still full and heavy, still this is the time of large hair-dresses and feathers, but wigs aren't that popular as they used to be.
